Fair trade Fortnight -Shopping at the Co-op

Updated: Mar 9, 2023

This morning Wednesday 8th March, on one of the coldest days so far, we took a walk to the local Co-op in Matlock Town Centre.
We went in search of Fair trade products as it is Fair Trade Fortnight this week and next and we have been talking about Fair Trade with the children and learning about what it is all about, and how to spot the Fair Trade products with the Fair Trade symbol.
We found Banana's, Coffee for the grown ups, Tea also for the grown ups and chocolate for the children to share once back at Pre-school.
The manager of Matlock Co-op was kind enough to give the children some colouring books, pencils and seeds, as well as enough banana's for the children to have one each.
The children had a wonderful time and were very good at walking, crossing the roads and keeping safe by staying with their partners.

When we got back to Pre-School, we all had a banana each, and some well deserved hot chocolate to warm ourselves up, although walking back up the hill soon warmed us up! We also had a lovely treat of a few squares of delicious Fair Trade milk chocolate each too!!

Don't forget you can support the Pre-School through the Co-op community fund. Join the Co-op to save money and receive offers, and then choose Matlock Pre-School Playgroup Association as your charity, then each time you purchase co-op products and scan your membership card, they will donate money to our Pre-School.
To join please follow this link: https://www.coop.co.uk/membership

Thank you Co-op
